Enrollment is NOW OPEN for the 2021 Scholastic Summer Reading Program

Discover something new every day on Scholastic Home Base including LIVE author meet & greets.

April 27, 2021

"Research shows that kids who do not read during the summer months are more likely to fall victim to the "summer slide" — the learning loss that takes place during the long break from school. Parents say summer reading helps their child during the school year mainly because it helps keep their kid’s brain active and that reading requires constant practice." - Scholastic

The Scholastic Summer Reading Program is a free, online reading opportunity designed to encourage reading all summer long in an effort to avoid such learning losses.

The 2021 summer reading program is available April 26th through September 3rd.

How to Participate:

1. REGISTER: Create a free account on Scholastic Home Base, a digital destination with full books, live events, and games. Create an avatar to explore a world of wonderful books and characters.

2. READ, READ, READ: Browse your own books or pick from a list of suggested books based on age.

3. RECORD: Write down your reading streaks in the Read-a-Palooza zone within Home Base. By keeping reading streaks, kids will unlock a donation of 100,000 books from Scholastic to Save the Children, an organization that helps kids in rural America gain access to literature.
