For many years, Family Promise of Sussex County has partnered with The United Way to collect and provide winter coats for the many families and individuals experiencing a housing crisis in Sussex County. Last year, The United Way relocated and were unable to assist us in collecting coats for our families in need. We decided to begin our own collection. These coats are distributed to men, women, and children throughout the colder winter months.
No one deserves to suffer through the winter months without the warmth of a coat. For some, a coat may be their only source of warmth throughout the entire winter. COVID-19 has financially impacted many families with forced business closures and lay-offs. Families are struggling to keep food on the table let alone able to purchase new winter coats for themselves and their growing children. Our most needed coat sizes are Men’s L-3XL and women’s L-3XL. We are also in need of children’s coats in all sizes, but specifically the 4-12 sizes.

• Uniting local community resources to provide shelter and meals
• Working with families to overcome barriers to self-sufficiency
• Advocating for local affordable housing solutions
