My Family Fathers Day with The Sussex County Miners

By Danielle Barris - Publisher Macaroni Kid Sussex County June 18, 2018

When thinking about what to do for Fathers Day this year I wanted to do something different! With so much to do in Sussex County we had a hard time deciding. After much deliberation we chose the Kids Go Free Day (Sunday) at Skylands Stadium to see the Sussex County Miners. Boy, we were not disappointed! We arrived about a hour late because as you know naps come first! Pulling into the stadium we were happy to see ample parking and were up to gate in no time. I grabbed our tickets and off we went! My family and I were greeted by friendly staff who checked us in and guided us to our seats. My son of course had other ides and ran to HUGE dump truck bounce house! From there we headed over to the ride along train for two quick spins and then off to our seats.

On a hot sunny day it was nice to have our seats in a shaded area of the stadium. As we got settled in the staff was playing family fun games on the field with selected participants. We laughed and cheered them on. As the game went on we grabbed some nice cold ice cream to cool down.

Before you know it The Miners had won 5-4! The stands went wild and the kids rushed down to the field to meet the players! What a great idea to have the kids meet and greet the players after the game and run the bases! This was the first time my boys were able to do anything like this and they were in awe. To see their eyes light up and those big smiles getting to meet real life baseball players was priceless!

Thank you to Joann and the amazing staff at Sklands Stadium Sussex County Miners for having us and giving us to opportunity to make more great family memories and have a amazing Fathers Day!
