Fun Things to do for FREE in January

When the temperatures outside continue to drop...meltdowns and patience are beginning to heat up inside.  But, Macaroni Kid families won't suffer with cabin fever this season.  They know all the fun places to go!  Check out al our FREE ideas below!


Moms Unite!  There's nothing like the camaraderie of friendship and fun to brighten up your day.  And it's a win-win!  Get our of the house, make new friends AND let the kids enjoy a playdate.  Here's our list of local Moms Clubs in Sussex County.


Shh-oot over to the library for awesome toddler and pre-school programs, Lego building and Minecraft clubs, arts & craft sessions, activity groups for teens, special events...heck, you can even read with a dog!  Take a look at all the amazing things our local libraries have to offer and start booking your dates!    


Stimulate & Educate.  That library card in your wallet is pretty valuable.  Did you know, with that card you are entitled to check out museum passes at no charge?  Just be sure to call your Sussex County library to reserve.  Where can you go?  The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, The Morris Museum, The Stickley Museum and Craftsman Farms.  Plan it our and make a fun family date for each one! And there's more!  You'll be pleasantly surprised at all the perks that piece of plastic can get you and your family!  Take a look here and start using it to its full advantage. 


Make It and Take It.  Arts & crafts are kid favorites!  Save the date (some may require online registration) for upcoming events at these stores.  Bang out a great monthly themed project with Home Depot Kids Workshop and Lowe's Build & Grow (there's also in-store DIY events for us parents!).  And we can't forget about Michael's Kids Club for fun weekly crafting sessions (small fee may apply).


Reap the Rewards.  Laser One in Wantage has a great perk when you sign up for their e-newsletter...a free laser tag pass!  Get on this mailing list to be the first to learn about upcoming price specials and exclusive offers too!


I like to move it, move it.  Every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday head to the Littell Center in Franklin for the Happy Walkers Group.  It's a free indoor opportunity for individuals to walk alone or together and strollers are welcome.  Check out our Calendar of Events for dates and details.


Go, be free!  (Just kidding, you must supervise your little animals).  There are many open play events on the Macaroni Kid Calendar of Events.  Open plays are hosted by the Dennis Library, Sparta Library and Littell Center every week!


Once upon a time...and once a week, Sparta Books hosts a Story Time.  On Tuesdays from 10-11am, join Miss Michelle for a fun new tale.
